Philosophy of Treatment - At the Renewed Hope Counseling Center, psychotherapy is conducted using a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation that is adapted to conform to a Biblical world view. This theoretical approach assumes that both mental processes (i.e., thinking) as well as external reinforcements (i.e., events or experiences) influence behavior. The brain takes in information and processes it through perception, memory, thought, judgment, and decision-making to generate integrated behavior patterns. Fundamentally, how and what a person thinks determines how they feel and behave. Individuals seeking assistance are exposed to different ways of thinking to change or modify unhealthy emotions and behaviors as well as developing new skills in physical self-regulation to change or modify negative physical reaction to environmental stressors.
